Foundational Self Care

So often when I’m coaching I go back to what I like to call foundational self care and that inevitably leads to the question ….Why is it important to start with self care?


Coaching is all about moving forward and taking action. Identifying what you want to achieve by working with me, strategies that support that and the motivation to become intentional in achieving what it is you need to change.


We almost always start with practical self care, we lay these foundations and build from there checking in on them often.


Starting with foundational self-care is important when dealing with life's challenges because it allows us to take care of our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. When we prioritize self-care, we can better manage stress and anxiety, improve our mood, boost our self-esteem, and increase our overall resilience.


So what are the self care foundations?

👉🏻getting enough sleep,

👉🏻eating good food that’s good for your body in the right amounts

👉🏻exercising regularly

👉🏻focused breathing

👉🏻staying properly hydrated

👉🏻support and accountability


By making self-care a priority, we can better cope with the challenges that life throws our way, and we can approach those challenges with a clearer mind and a more positive attitude.


Furthermore, taking care of ourselves can also set an example for others, showing them that self-care is important and encouraging them to prioritize their own well-being as well.


In this way, self-care can have a ripple effect, leading to improved health and well-being not just for you, but for those around you too. Proper consistent self care is not selfish, it has a huge component of selflessness. The better we are, the more we have to offer others. It makes us better for ourselves, our partners, our children, families, friends and for ourselves professionally.
